I made this picture frame for a co-worker who loves wine! I got the wine corks from a place locally where you can drop off unwanted art supplies and see if there is anything you might use as well! Win-win! I attempted dying these with distress reinkers which was NOT a good idea. The color rubs off. I remedied that by giving it two coats of cork sealer that I had for my Birkenstocks. I figured it would work, and it seems it did.
The base was one of those unfinished ones at craft stores- I painted and put a gloss coat on it. Then my handy husband sliced the corks in half and I adhered them with a hot glue gun. Easy peasy! I think she liked it!

Very nice! I am glad everything came together in the end.
What a terrific project - love the idea of a donate and take store - I bet there are lots of interesting things there. Great idea to us the sealer -I keep forgetting that DI is water based - resulted in some oops for me too.
