Smeared and Smudged Member Blog Hop: Dia De Los Muertos Candle

Hello everyone!  Today I  am thrilled to be participating in the Smeared and Smudged Forum Blog Hop- the theme was to alter something!  Be sure to stop by all the blog hop blogs- you will find an amazing array of fabulous altered items!

Blog Roll:
For my project, I decided to make a Dia De Los Muertos candle.
I purchased a regular memorial candle at the dollar store, then removed the label and washed the outside.

I then took out my trusty alcohol inks and applied with the applicator, then went back in after that and added some drips here and there.

The image I used is one from Smeared Ink that I got from participating in a challenge in the forum.  I printed two and colored them almost the same, except I gave them different gold teeth!  I decided he needed some toothy bling.  I love coloring these skulls for the Dia De Los Muertos style because you can add all sorts of colors- and glitter!

I cut them out then adhered them to candle with sookwang tape.  I added some black vintage lace that I found on a thrifting expedition.

I love how it came out...the colors are so vibrant and the image looks great all colored up!  It now has a place of honor on my coffee table.

thanks for stopping by!  Your next stop is Jean
