Dilly Beans Skulls with Dots and freedom in creating

The other day while perusing blogs, I found this post by a super-talented crafter named Claudine who was making postcards instead of cards/tags for a change of pace.  I had an a-ha moment- and realized that even though I love making things and using all sorts of images- a lot of the stuff is not really suitable for cards for most people I know and I have a ton of tags and cards everywhere that I need to liberate, so I realized I could create to my heart's content if I made something like postcards or ....?  I know it sounds silly, but for some reason I was feeling trapped into producing things for a reason or occasion.  Weird, right?  But it's like I now have "permission" to just make stuff because I enjoy it.  Sometimes I think I get so wrapped up in wanting to have something to show for my time and money that I forget the sheer joy of creating for creativity's sake... to just relax and have fun.

ANNYYYWAYYYY....

this is the first I have made of what I am calling my postcard or future fun album.  I have  ton of card stock waiting to be used, so I cut about a dozen or more sheets into strips of 6.25 by 4.25 and they are "backs" to my  card-fronts, post cards, pages, etc.  I scored a line to serve as a possible attachment section if I decided to bind or put rings thru for mini albums or whatever.... or I can simply cut it off if I decide to use it on a traditional card. The other sections from that strip where just big enough to use for top note die cuts that I use on the inside of my cards.

I somehow printed what seems to be a zillion of this Dilly Beans image and found this one just staring at me... and since the challenge at Dilly Beans Stamps is dots, I used polka dot paper and added little dots around the image.  The flowers were from the drop off./take away art place locally, and the sentiment I had printed already. I colored with copics and glitter pens.

Thanks for stopping by!

Great creation Carla. I love the colours and the image. I know what you mean about being given permission to create. I feel the same way. I had forgotten what it is like to craft for enjoyment so I had to take a step back and step down from some teams for a while just so that I could enjoy it again. Xx

This is awesome, great job. Thanks so much for joining us at Dilly Beans! It's always nice to create just for the sake of creating, isn't it? :)

It is a really different feeling to create for no reason other than your own enjoyment! You know when it's starting to feel like work you're doing it wrong :P
I love that image - so cool & detailed - and your colouring is SPOT on. Ha, I'm so funny :)
